2016 will be THE year of Final Fantasy and don’t we just love it?
Last week Square Enix held a huge spectacle of an event called “Final Fantasy XV: Uncovered” that made every fan's heart beat faster. We finally received all sorts of information around the newest instalment in the Final Fantasy series and here’s a little wrap up of what to look forward to. And boy, there’s a lot!
First and foremost, the release date of Final Fantasy was finally revealed: the game will be launched on September 30. However, to shorten down the waiting time, Square Enix has a few surprises for their fans.
You may ask yourself why news about a video game, however great, appear in our TV and movie blog. The answer to that is simple - there will be a movie! Before the game’s release, there will be a movie, called Kingsglaive with beautiful CGI, reminiscent of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (2005), and a prominent cast of voice actors, including the Game of Thrones stars Sean Bean and Lena Headey and Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul. Here’s the official plot description:
“The magical kingdom of Lucis is home to the world’s last remaining Crystal, and the menacing empire of Niflheim is determined to steal it. King Regis of Lucis commands an elite force of soldiers called the Kingsglaive. Wielding their king’s magic, they fight to protect Lucis. As the overwhelming military might of the empire bears down, King Regis is faced with an impossible ultimatum – to marry his son, Prince Noctis to Princess Lunafreya of Tenebrae, captive of Niflheim, and surrender his lands to Niflheim rule. Although the king concedes, it becomes clear that the empire will stop at nothing to achieve their devious goals, with only the Kingsglaive standing between them and world domination.”

So in 2016 we will have a new Final Fantasy game and a new CGI-film, which will be available for purchase on Blu-ray, but that still isn’t everything yet. To give the characters more of a backstory, there will be an anime series titled Brotherhood, including male-bonding, road-tripping and of course a lot of fighting. Seriously, what more could we possibly ask for? The first of five episodes can already be found on YouTube or right here – enjoy!
